Musharraf calls for end to
US-led attacks by Ramadan

Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf on Monday expressed the hope that the US-led strikes against Afghanistan would come to an end before the beginning of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

He called for restraint if the strikes continued during the month, beginning November 17.

Musharraf told CNN that "one would hope for restraint during the month of Ramadan because this (continued strikes) would certainly have some negative effect on the Muslim world."

"It should not have any effect on the campaign as such, but it may have some effect on the Muslim world so one would hope and wish this campaign comes to an end before the month of Ramadan," Musharraf said.
