7-month-old in US infected with anthrax

The fear of bioterrorist attacks in the United States increased on Tuesday with a 7-month-old baby getting infected with the deadly anthrax bacteria.

The baby contracted an anthrax infection when he was taken to the office of his father at ABC television in New York. He was treated with antibiotics and is expected to survive.

In the US, a total of four persons in were confirmed to have developed anthrax infections, while nine others had been exposed to the bacterium.

Of the four infected, one had died. US Health and Human Services Secretary Tommy Thompson said it was clear that those who were exposed to anthrax were victims of bioterrorism.
