Taleban envoy in Pak rushes to Kandahar

As the United States-led air strikes against terrorist bases in Afghanistan entered the seventh day, Taleban's envoy to Pakistan Abdul Salam Zaeef on Saturday rushed to Kandahar to consult the militia's top leadership on the emerging situation.

Before leaving, Zaeef told reporters that he was "returning to Afghanistan for consultations".

The envoy did not give details about his visit except saying that he would be meeting Taleban's supreme leader Mullah Mohammed Omar.

However, Zaeef's sudden visit to Kandahar amidst heavy bombing sparked off speculations that the Afghanistan's sole remaining envoy to the outside world was carrying a special message from Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf.
