Indian suspect in FBI custody blessed with a son

Syed Amin Jafri in Hyderabad

An Indian suspect, presently in the custody of the Federal Bureau of Investigation in the United States, has been blessed with a baby boy back home in Hyderabad.

Tasleem, the wife of Mohammed Jaweed Azmath, gave birth at a private hospital on Thursday. "My daughter-in-law has delivered a baby boy at a maternity home. Both are okay. We have just returned from the hospital," Mohammed Jehangir, Azmath's father, told rediff.com on Friday.

Jehangir said that he was still waiting for official word from the US on the fate of his son, who has been in custody for over three months.

"I have been pleading that my son is innocent. Now, media reports say that they (FBI) have not found anything to link him with any terrorist acts. I don't know why he is still being held?

Zahir Shah, brother of another Indian suspect Ayub Ali Khan, said the Indian consulate in New York had informed the family that no evidence was found against his brother.

However, Ayub faces a case relating to unpaid credit card charges.
