Israel decides to break all contact with Arafat

The Israeli security cabinet on Thursday decided to break off all contact with Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, accusing him of doing nothing to crack down on terrorism.

The decision was taken at an emergency meeting of Israel's security cabinet.

The meeting was called by Prime Minister Ariel Sharon to examine the options before Israel in the wake of an upsurge in violence by Palestinian suicide bombers.
