Afghan accord ready to be inked: Report

An agency report quoting an unnamed Northern Alliance source said various Afghan groups discussing the establishment of an interim set-up to fill the vacuum created by the collapse of the Taleban have agreed upon an UN-brokered power sharing agreement.

"A complete agreement has been reached. It will be signed tomorrow," the report quoted the source as saying.

The report said a diplomatic source also confirmed the agreement between the various Afghan factions, said to run into seven pages, and providing details about the structure of the interim administration in Afghanistan.

The report said the Northern Alliance has agreed to former Afghan king Zahir Shah, or his representative heading the interim administration for six months.

The Northern Alliance and the others -- the Cyprus and the Peshawar groups -- have reportedly been given 'important' ministeries.

"They (the ex-king's entourage) will head government. The ministries will be given to Northern Alliance and the other groups according to their weights," the Alliance source was reported to be saying.
