Non-stop to Windy City

United Airlines which discontinued service to/from India on April 4, now has plans to introduce a direct, non-stop flight between New Delhi and Chicago. Their plans are not formalised yet and the company is waiting for certain approvals before they can begin. They are shooting for the flight to be introduced by October 31.

The flight will be 15 hours long and cover 7,484 miles, which is one of the longest flight distances in the world. A non-stop United flight will be the fastest way to reach North America from India, should it be introduced.

On Northwest all the way

It is now posssible to fly to Washington DC from New Delhi on Northwest all the way.

NW 37 departs from New Delhi at 1255 hours IST and reaches Washington DC at 1350 hours local time. There is nearly a four hour layover in Amsterdam.
NW 37 departs from Washington DC at 1815 hours local time and reaches New Delhi at 2340 hours IST. There is nearly a three hour layover in Amsterdam.

Fares:

The excursion fare, valid for four months, on economy, from New Delhi to Washington DC is Rs 55,375 plus taxes till April 2. Discounts of upto 10 to 12 per cent or more are available at your nearest travel agent.

On Northwest to Newark

Northwest KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has introduced a flight between Bombay and Newark via Amsterdam.

On Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays KL 474 departs from Bombay at 0135 hours IST and reaches Amsterdam at 0635 hours local time and reaches Newark at 1355 hours local time. There is nearly a five hour layover in Amsterdam.
On Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays NW 57 departs from Bombay at 0135 hours IST and reaches Amsterdam at 0700 hours local time and reaches Newark at 1355 hours local time. There is nearly a five hour layover in Amsterdam.
NW 58 departs from Newark at 1825 hours local time and reaches Amsterdam at 0715 hours local time, the next day and reaches Bombay at 2335 hours IST. There is nearly a three and a half hour layover in Amsterdam.

Air-India has introduced a flight between Bangalore and London and New York via Bombay.

On Tuesdays and Fridays AI 101 departs from Bangalore at 0220 hours IST and reaches London at 1130 hours local time and reaches New York at 1555 hours local time. There is nearly a three hour layover in Bombay.
On Saturdays AI101 departs from Bangalore at 0315 hours IST and reaches London at 1130 hours local time and reaches New York at 1555 hours local time. There is nearly a two hour layover in Bombay.
On Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays AI 102 departs from New York at 1915 hours IST and reaches London at 0615 hours local time the next day and reaches Bangalore at 0320 hours IST two days later. There is nearly a three hour layover in Bombay.

Air-India currently operates four flights a week from Bombay to Bangalore. While one of these links directly with the Singapore-bound Air-India flight, the second links to the Singapore/Jakarta-bound AI flight, the third flight links directly with the Dubai-bound AI flight .

Similarly Air-India operates five weekly services from Bangalore to Bombay, three of which originate in Singapore and the fourth is a Muscat-Dubai-Bangalore-Bombay flight.

Ooh la la, a flight to Milano

Alitalia has introduced a flight to Milano from Bombay.

AZ 771 departs from Bombay at 0255 hours on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays and reaches Milano at 0730 hours local time. Alitalia is offering a special fare of Rs 27,000 for an excursion ticket on economy class till December 31. The business class excursion fare is Rs 70,000. Are you headed for Vancouver?

Air Canada has restarted its service out of New Delhi to Vancouver. Flights had been suspended for the last four months.

AC 897 departs from New Delhi on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays at 0120 hours IST and reaches London at 0555 hours GMT.

AC 897 departs from London at 1130 hours GMT and reaches Vancouver at 1320 hours local time. From Vancouver there are convenient connections to Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal and Ottawa. Air Canada alos plans to tie up with Jet Airway, Indian Airlines and Sahara India Airlines to offer good connections to Hyderabad, Bangalore and other important Indian cities.

Touchdown at Sunset Boulevard

Air-India commenced flights between India and Los Angeles on a code sharing basis with Singapore Airlines.

Singapore Airlines will make available to Air-India a block of 80 seats per week in each direction on its daily Singapore-Los Angeles-Singapore flights.

Passengers travelling by any one of Air-India's 17 weekly flights, from Bombay, New Delhi, Madras, Bangalore and Hyderabad to Singapore, will be able to connect directly to the Singapore Airlines services to Los Angeles and vice versa.

Singapore Airlines has four daily flights to Los Angeles via Tokyo or Taipei from Singapore, the first at 0945 hours and the last at 1730 hours. Singapore Airlines has four daily flights to Singapore via Tokyo or Taipei from Los Angeles, the first at 0125 hours and the last at 1150 hours.

Los Angeles will become Air-India's fourth gateway in the USA.

South of the equator daily

Quantas now flies daily out of Bombay to Sydney via Singapore.

Quantas flights offers businessmen flying to Singapore, the advantage of arriving early in the morning in the city. Passengers flying into Sydney may make connections with flights to 52 cities in Australia and three in New Zealand.

QF 124 departs from Bombay, on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, at 2355 hours IST and reaches Singapore at 0750 hours local time and then reaches Sydney at 1930 hours local time.

Beirut-bound?

Middle East Airlines has started service to India.

Owned by the Lebanese government, the airline has Airbus 310 flights to Beirut, Lagos and Abidjan, from where it is possible to get connections to other parts of the Middle East and Africa or to Europe.

On Tuesdays, ME 637 departs from Bombay at 2140 hours IST and reaches Beirut, Lebanon at 0100 hours local time.
The connecting flight, ME 571 departs from Beirut at 0315 hours local time and arrives in Abidjan, Ivory Coast at 0755 hours local time.
The same flight departs from Abidjan at 0830 hours local time and reaches Lagos, Nigeria at 1130 hours local time.
On Thursdays, ME 637 departs from Bombay at 2140 hours IST and arrives in Beirut at 0100 hours local time. The flight terminates there.

The one way fare, quoted by agents, from Bombay to Abidjan is Rs 38,310 after discounts; the excursion fare, valid for four months, is Rs 69,445 after discounts.
