Street play in Bombay

The British Council, Bombay, presents a musical street performance by The Chipolatas, a company that produces street theatre, cabaret and children's drama, at:

  • The Sunken Garden, Experimental Theatre, on September 7 at 1930 hours. Entry free. Passes are available at the NCPA and the British Council Reception.

  • The Cooperage Band Stand on September 8 at 1730 hours. Entry free. Passes are available at the British Council Reception.

Timings:
NCPA: 0900 hours to 1330 hours and 1630 to 1830 hours.
British Council Reception: 0930 hours to 1630 hours.

The show has changed

The sound and light show in Purana Qila, New Delhi, has changed its timings to the original times, that is, the Hindi show will be from 1930 hours to 2030 hours, and the English show will be from 2100 hours to 2200 hours.

Tickets will be Rs 25 per person. Children below five years is free. Group bookings will be given a 25 per cent discount. Tickets will be available at the venue and at the Delhi Tourism office.

Museum of Husain Art

Hyderabad will soon be home to a museum of fine arts, designed, conceived and created by India's top painter, M F Husain.

Located at Banjara Hills, the odd-looking museum will house Husain's 100 foot visual script of Gajgamini, the film he produced starring Madhuri Dixit. As well as his canvases of Satyajit Ray, Dilip Kumar and Akira Kurosawa and more. The artist plans to open a library of movies, including works of Federico Fellini, Kursosawa which will be screened a 40-seat theatre in the basement. Also on the anvil are rooms dedicated to Satyajit Ray, Raj Kapoor and Guru Dutt.

In a statement to the press, Husain announced, "I am truly combining art and cinema in this museum." Some of the other facilities: a cafeteria, a collection of Husain's books on art, a waterfall, the screening of a documentary on Indian cinema.

National Rail Museum for kids

The National Rail Museum in New Delhi is the place to head with the kids on a rainy afternoon.

The museum offers picnics, joy rides, a souvenir shop, interactive kiosks, models of old trains and more. It is possible to take a guided tour around the museum.

The museum offers a blend of history and entertainment. Special efforts have been made to involve children. Fun methods to impart information have been evolved for easy learning at the museum.
