Catamaran services suspended for the monsoon

Catamaran services in Bombay have been suspended for the rainy season.

Frank Shipping has suspended services from Goa and Bombay and is expected to resume at the end of September.

SKS has suspended services from the Gateway of India to Vashi and is expected to resume from September 1.

Maldar Catamarans has suspended services from Bombay and Mandwa and is expected to resume at the end of September.


SKS hosts joyrides for the monsoon

SKS, Bombay hosts joyrides till end of September. The rides will be after every 15 minutes.

Tickets are priced at Rs 50 per head. Children under three years are not charged.

The rides go on daily from 1730 hours to 2000 hours. On Sundays, the timings are from 1630 hours to 2000 hours.

Cruising it to the Elephanta caves

MTDC offers the Elephanta lunch cruises, daily , for Rs 300 per head. Children below 12 will be charged Rs 150 and couples will be charged Rs 500. The cruise will depart from the Gateway at 1100 hours and ends at 1430 hours. MTDC offers a vegetarian lunch on board.
At the moment the lunch cruise is available at these prices for group bookings of 40 or more.

Across the harbour

The Suman-Interharbour Catamarans operates a service between Bombay and Mandwa.

The company operates daily services from the Gateway of India, Bombay to Mandwa. The first catamaran departs from the Gateway of India at 0810 hours and arrives in Mandwa at 0910 hours. Thereafter there are trips every two hours. The last trip departs from the Gateway of India at 2010 hours and arrives in Mandwa at 2110 hours daily.

Tickets are priced at Rs 100 per head one way. Children below three will not be charged. Children above three will pay the full ticket.

The company arranges free bus services to Alibag from Mandwa.

There is new catamaran service between Calcutta and Haldia in West Bengal. Silverjet Catmarans operate services to Haldia daily except on Saturday and Sunday.

The catamarans are air-conditioned and provide music and video entertainment and passengers receive a complimetary drink on their journey. The Catmaran departs from Calcutta every day at 0745 hours and then leaves from Haldia at 1730 hours. The first class fare is Rs 1,000 each way, the tariff for business class is Rs 550 for each way and for the economy class it is Rs 400 for each way. The company also provides a complimetary bus service to transport passengers to the city centre and back to the terminal.
