A drive around India? People told us we were crazy to do it. What with India's bad roads, poor infrastructure, blah, blah, blah.

So much pessimism about the possibility that we just had to do the trip by road. We were set on discovering India -- her every nook and corner! No way were we going to settle for a fly-in, fly-out or overnight train journey across the country. We would share the roads with the truckers that ply back and forth across the country, letting the journey unfold in front of us with each mile.

The idea was to spend the next nine weeks travelling through India and sampling some of the many cultural, scenic, and outdoor activities she has to offer. Our trip will take us up through northern Maharashtra, into Madhya Pradesh, upto New Delhi. From there we will head into Himachal Pradesh. Zanskar and Ladakh is the northernmost stop on our journey. After that, weather permitting, we will head into the Kumaon and Garhwal areas of Uttar Pradesh. On the return trip we head back through Punjab, Rajasthan (in the monsoon), and Gujarat.
