Gosh, I think the first few words I uttered must've been, "See the world."
And during college when all my fellow confused mates aspired and planned their lives as doctors, engineers and managers, I wanted to be a hippie and -- yup -- see the world (the hippie bit was an off shoot of reading Richard Bach's Jonathan Livingston Seagull).
Receiving no encouragement on that front from my folks nor my peers (and the pressure of 'making something of your life') I undertook the much dreaded and very dull chartered accountancy course. Since then have worked at it for four years -- three in the reputed Coopers and Lybrand and for one at a television production company called In House Productions Pvt Ltd as a financial analyst. Three years on the course and I felt like I was losing some of my 'spirit'. Thought the media world might rekindle some of that spirit...and it did... brought out a creative side in me that I am keen on exploring.
This trip came along at just the right time -- a time when I was done with pursuing a life of numbers and wanted to express myself through some other medium -- like words and pictures for instance.
And the thought that I carry with me through the trip:

Nothing quite as profound. I just enjoy travelling and wanted to see India... and what better way to do so than by road. I have travelled extensively through North America, western Europe, and the Middle East (last year I spent 11 weeks backpacking through Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Israel, and Iran).
I enjoy the outdoors and am quite up for almost any type of outdoor activity. I especially like camping and hiking. My most memorable trip was a three day hike through the Grand Canyon in 1997. So I was quite keen to hit North India and do some outdoorsy stuff... the more whitewater rafting, hiking, and camping we could do the better!
