Wood carvings and the brass diyas that can come up to waist
level or higher make great buys. Cochin's antique market has some
good finds. Coir matting and carpets are cheapest here than perhaps
anywhere else except probably Alleppey. Look out for interesting
handicrafts made from metal too, especially Kerala's famous mirrors
or kannady. Kerala has good spices and cashews. And its
salties like jackfruit chips and banana chips are great stuff
to take home.
