This leads to diseases ranging from food poisoning to cancer, disability and even death in worst cases. The key to good health is eating safe and nutritious food.

Here are 8 tips to keep your food fresh and nutritious –

#1 Use egg cover tray to keep your eggs safe and away from other food items

Egg cover

Buy Egg Storage Box @ Rs 195

First of all, it is important to place your food right. For instance, you must separate meat, poultry and sea food from other food items in your refrigerator to avoid cross contamination.

#2 Store uncooked chicken in an air tight container to preserve its nutritional value

Storage containers

62 Pcs Storage Container Set @ Rs 790

5 Pcs Storage Container Set @ Rs 335

#3 Avoid cutting your fruits and veggies on the kitchen floor, use a cutting board!

Cutting

Set of 2 Cutting Boards + Knife @ Rs 449

Cutting Knives Set @ Rs 675

The kitchen floor is not safe for placing food as it may contain bacteria, virus and other germs. Use a plastic cutting board as the grooves in a wooden cutting board could contain bacteria. Plastic cutting board is the safest alternative to place and cut your raw food items.

Also, you must avoid cutting your veggies with a knife you just used for cooking meat as it raises the chances of cross contamination. Use a separate knife for an individual cutting activity at a time.

#4 Seal clip to keep your food fresh

Seal clip

Buy Set of 5 Seal Clips @ Rs 169

Whether it is raw food or something ready to eat, these food clips are a superb pick to lock the freshness of your food. Most food items in your house are stored in those simple plastic bags. You can use a food clip to keep your food fresh and long lasting.

#5 Clean your hands with a hand sanitizer

Hand sanitizer

Buy Infectiguard Hand Sanitizer @ Rs 125

Amidst cooking, you have to cut your veggies, clean the surface and taste the food – all at the same time. Ensure that your hands are clean. Use this hand sanitizer and say goodbye to germs.

#6 Keep the surface of your kitchen clean

Kitchen cleaning wiper

Buy Mini Kitchen Wiper @ Rs 140

Use this kitchen wiper every time you start and finish cooking a meal to keep the surface clean and prevent all types of bacteria and viruses.

#7 Did you know – Food that is cooked below 60ºC is not safe for consumption

Food thermometer

Buy Food Thermometer @ Rs 495

Use a food thermometer to check the temperature of your food. Make sure you cook your food at the right temperatures (Above 60º C on a stove and 74º C in case of a microwave oven) as bacteria that causes food poisoning multiplies itself if the food is between 4.5º C - 60º C.

#8 Freeze your food to avoid bacterial infections

Mini refrigerator

Buy Vox Mini Refrigerator @ Rs 2599

Foods that are meant to be stored in a refrigerator must not be left out for more than 2 hours in order to avoid bacterial infections.

Even if you are carrying perishable food items on a trip, make sure you refrigerate it on time with this compact refrigerator.
