Q. When Mughals ruled in Delhi, an ordinary man in Assam or Gujarat or Kerala used to be least bothered about who is ruling India. Same attitude continued during British rule. After British introduced western education, gradually people were becoming conscious of foreign rule and idea of India as a country and independence developed. But it remained confined to a minuscule minority. Congress party was struggling to find out how to enlighten the masses. Suddenly like a magic Indian masses were made conscious about independence and also about the country of India or Bharat. How did it happen?
