Q. To see India a beggar-free state, I have a dream proposal. If the Union Government levies a one-rupee Poverty Alleviation Tax (PAT) on those who go to temples like Thirupati, Pazhani, Madurai, Guruvayoor and multiplexes and movie halls and the monies are pooled into a corpus and spent on improving the conditions of those women who beg for alms with a babe in their arms in front of temples and signal posts in the streets. Paying such a PAT will not affect the economies of those who frequently visit such places. Any comments please ??
