Q. I don't need some of the saving accounts of nationalized banks. However, I still have to pay annual service charges, quarterly sms charges and maintain a minimum balance to avoid penalty to each of these banks. My questions are:1) What if I maintain zero balance and not bother to use them any more? Will the bank close my account automatically after some time span due to negative balance incurred due to penalties and other charges? If so, can(do) they still claim money and take legal action?2) Is there any way to get my account closed over phone in banks like canara/sbi?
