A recent report indicates that over 5,000 government schools in India have no students enrolled, with a significant concentration in Telangana and West Bengal. The number of schools with very low enrolment has also increased.
The academic year 2024-2025 also saw a rise in the representation of female teachers, with women now comprising 54.2 per cent of the total teaching workforce.
