I-League: Mohun Bagan pip Arrows 3-2

Mohun Bagan managed to pulled off a narrow 3-2 win over a resurgent Pailan Arrows in a closely-contested round 21 I-League fixture in Kolkata on Sunday.

The relegation-wary Mohun Bagan took a 3-0 lead in no time with Aibor Khongjee (5th) and Tolgay Ozbey (19th, 20th) striking in tandem.

But the AIFF developmental outfit showed fine character after the early setback and made their way back brilliantly with goals from Shaiju Mon (41st) and Seminlen Doungel (49th) but could not find the equaliser.

With the win, Mohun Bagan remained on course to avoid relegation as they jumped to nine points from 16 matches, three behind the other relegation-threatened side United Sikkim FC.

Dempo score self-goal against Sporting

Dempo's bid to defend their title went up in smoke as they lost to Sporting Clube de Goa through a self goal by defender Rowlison Rodrigues in the 21st round of the I-League played at Duler ground in Mapusa.

Sporting, who had more possession of the ball throughout the match, managed to win through a self goal scored by Dempo's defender Rowlison Rodrigues in the 51st minute.

With Sunday's win, Sporting leaped to seventh position with 29th points from 21 matches while Dempo remained at the third position with 35 points from 20 matches, eight points behind leaders Churchill Brothers.

Karpeh scores two on debut; Pune FC draw 2-2

Pune FC came from a goal down twice to draw 2-2 with Shillong Lajong FC at the Balewadi Sports Complex, Pune.

Striker Edinho Junior (13th & 56th minute) twice gave Shillong Lajong the lead, but substitute striker Boima Karpeh scored a brace (51st & 59th) to equalise for Pune FC. Both strikers were making their league debuts for the respective clubs.

Pune FC stay on fourth place with 34 points from 19 games while Lajong climb up to tenth with 20 points from 21 games.

At the other end, Pune FC once again equalised three minutes later. Karpeh completed his brace after heading home defender Othallo Tabia's perfect cross.

Both teams created several chances in the final quarter of the game, but poor finishing in the final third let them down.
