World No.1 Australia entered the final of the Champions Trophy hockey tournament in Auckland on Thursday, scoring a fine 4-2 win over the Netherlands in Pool C.

The Kookaburras, who have won the past three Champions Trophy tournaments, were in ruthless form and their goal-scoring machines Chris Ciriello, Matt Gohdes (2) and his cousin Jamie Dwyer proved too hot for the Dutch.

A noisy crowd turned out to watch host nation New Zealand's Pool C clash with Spain, but things didn't go their way as their side was handed a 3-2 defeat by the Europeans.

The Black Sticks led their opponents twice, thanks to goals from Andrew Hayward and Blair Hilton, but were pegged back by strikes from Ramon Alegre and Edi Tubau before Ramon's brother David Alegre hit a brilliant winner.

After the victory, Spain is in brilliant position to book a final berth, with only The Netherlands test ahead on Saturday.
