Zee Sports to telecast Davis Cup

August 04, 2005 19:53 IST

Zee Sports has signed up with the International Tennis Federation for live and exclusive coverage of the Davis Cup and Federation Cup.

According to a three-year deal with ITF, the channel will focus on expanding coverage of international men's and women's team tennis events. India's away ties will also be covered, a press release said on Thursday.

Viewers will be able to watch the 2005 Davis Cup World Group semi-finals in September when the Slovak Republic host Argentina and Croatia play Russia. Tennis stars on show will include Marat Safin and Guillermo Coria.

"We are delighted to be associated with two of the biggest sporting events in the world. Fans in India can expect coverage of the Davis Cup and Federation Cup at a level previously unavailable in India," said Gary Lovejoy, the chief operating officer of Zee Sports in India.

As an added bonus, SportsCafe, Zee Sports' daily news programme, will present daily highlights and analysis of the matches.
