A first-round exit at the Delhi Open, where he was defending a lot of points, cost Yuki Bhambri eight places. He dropped out of the top-100 and is placed at 107 in the latest tennis rankings, issued on Monday.
The 23-year-old Yuki, who lost to Belgium's Joris de Loore, was a finalist at the US $50,000 ATP Challenger event last year.
Saketh Myneni, though, made good progress, gaining eight places to rise to a career-best 158 after finishing runner-up at the just-concluded tournament at the DLTA Complex.
Both Yuki and Saketh were sanctioned financial assistance of Rs 37 lakh and Rs 36 lakh respectively last week by the government from the National Sports Development Fund (NSDF).
It came as a big boost for the players, who are striving to make the cut for the Rio Olympic Games.
Also moving up is comeback-man Mahesh Bhupathi, who won the doubles title at the tournament partnering Bhambri.
The 41-year-old Bhupathi moved to 226, a jump of 61 places.
Bhambri also benefited from the triumph as he entered the top-200 in doubles. He gained 46 spots and is now ranked 198.
Meanwhile, Somdev Devvarman, who opted not to defend his Delhi Open title, suffered a massive slump. He dropped to 279, a loss of 87 places on the rankings ladder.
Rohan Bopanna is the highest-ranked Indian male player in doubles, unchanged at number eight.
