Wrestling: Indian eves bag silver at Kazakhstan Presidential Cup

The Indian women's wrestling team had a good preparation for the upcoming World Championship as they finished second in the fifth Cup of the President of Republic of Kazakhstan on Sunday.

India's Sakshi Malik (left) in action against Aminat Adeniyi of NigeriaThe eight-member Indian team displayed a spirited performance in the event topped by hosts Kazakhstan with Mongolia settling for the third spot.

Teen sensation Vinesh (48kg), Lalita Sherawat (55kg) and Anita (63kg) won all their bouts in their respective weight categories, while Sakshi Malik lost just one fight in the 58kg division.

The other members of the side, Nirmala Devi (53kg), Sarita (60kg), Navjot Kaur (69kg) and Nikki (75kg) also came up with good performances against some of the top wrestlers of the world.

The Kazakhstan tour is expected to boost the confidence of the Indian eves for the World Championship, to be held in Las Vegas, USA from September 7-12, which will also be the first qualification event for Rio Olympics 2016.
