Mumbai Marines and Delhi Wizards played out a 2-2 draw in their World Series Hockey match in Mumbai on Sunday, pitchforking the former into the joint lead with Sher-E-Punjab and Bhopal Badshahs.
The Marines came from a goal behind to take the lead before the Wizards got the equaliser at the fag end of the match to take their points tally to seven from six games.
The result left Marines, Punjab and Badshahs tied on ten points each after six games apiece.
Both the goals for the Wizards were struck by drag-flicker Vikramjeet Singh, in the 12th and 67th minutes off penalty corners.
For Marines, Devinder Walmiki struck a penalty corner goal in the 25th minute to bring them on level terms. Later in the 45th minute, a fine field goal by Sandeep Michael put them 2-1 ahead before Wizards drew level with three minutes to go.
Chandigarh Comets rally to beat Pune Strykers 3-1
Chandigarh Comets fought back from a goal down to register a dominating 3-1 victory over hosts Pune Strykers in their seventh match of the World Series Hockey in Pune on Sunday.Chandigarh, who have three wins and as many losses so far, scored through Sukwinder Singh (12th minute), Gurjinder Singh (41st) and Llyod Stephenson (51st) after Pune's Mario Nicolas Almada had put the hosts ahead in the 11th minute of the match.
Pune had plenty of home support, and their first goal in the first quarter, when Mario scored through a field goal, only raised the expectations.
But the dust had not even settled when Chandigarh's Sukwinder Singh (Gabbar) struck the equaliser in the next minute itself to put paid to Pune's efforts.
After a thrilling first quarter, both teams tried hard to break the deadlock but neither could convert the chances.
Six minutes into the third quarter, Gurjinder converted a penalty corner to help the visitors take a 2-1 lead. Ten minutes later, Stephenson scored another field goal to almost the seal the match.
