Viva Kerala halt Mumbai FC's unbeaten run

February 03, 2010 21:45 IST

A spirited Viva Kerala ended Mumbai FC's 10-match unbeaten run with a narrow 1-0 victory over the hosts in a round 13 I-League match in Mumbai on Wednesday.

K P Anish scored the all-important goal in the 43rd minute to help the visitors register their first away victory of the season.

Though both teams had an equal share of the exchanges, the hosts have themselves to blame for failing to capitalise on the many chances they created.

Skipper Abhishek Yadav missed a splendid opportunity to put the hosts ahead, failing to convert a pass from Evans Quao with only the opposing custodian to beat.

However, Anish made no such mistake as he headed home a free-kick from skipper M P Sakeer, which was lobbed towards him from inside the box by C Sirajudeen.
