Newly crowned heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has attracted fresh controversy after making a string of sexist remarks, including some directing at Olympic and world heptathlete champion Jessica Ennis-Hill.

In a video interview, the controversial boxer was seen and heard saying, "I believe a woman's best place is in the kitchen and on her back, that's my personal belief. Making me a good cup of tea, that's what I believe," Sport24 reported.

Commenting on British heptathlete Ennis-Hill, he said, "I think she's good, she's won quite a few medals for Britain, she slaps up good as well, when she's got a dress on she looks quite fit."

However, the BBC has defended its decision to shortlist the boxer for Sports Personality of the Year despite mounting pressure on them to drop him from the list.

Fury claimed the WBA, IBF, IBO and WBO heavyweight titles by defeating Ukraine's Wladimir Klitschko by unanimous points decision in Dusseldorf last week.
