LOL! City boss Guardiola is new subject of meme machine

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola was left frustrated after his club’s 1-2 loss to Liverpool in Anfield on Sunday.

It wasn’t his players’ performance but a luck not going his way -- not once but twice -- that saw the Spaniard lose his cool.

Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold appeared to handle the ball inside his own box in the sixth minute but instead of a City penalty the hosts broke and 22 seconds later Fabinho drilled in a spectacular goal from outside the box.

Later in the 2nd half, Alexander-Arnold was again in the thick of things when the ball hit his hand. Once again, there was no penalty given.

This enraged Guardiola, who went straight to the fourth official Mike Dean and screamed 'twice' in his face, meaning a second handball was ignored.

And his reaction left Twitter in splits.

Guardiola then thanked the refs and other officials after the match and said that his gesture was not sarcastic.

Midfielder Ilkay Gundogan said after the match that City players were left fuming in the dressing room after watching replays of Liverpool's controversial opening goal

"We saw the incident again in the dressing room afterwards and for me, obviously, it's a penalty - but if you ask a Liverpool player they would say, 'You can give it but it's maybe a 50-50 situation,'" Gundogan told reporters.
