Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg has admitted he is feeling extremely gutted after his collision with teammate Lewis Hamilton at Spanish Grand Prix, which ended his seven-race winning streak.

Roseberg had seized the lead after making a pass at turn one from Hamilton, who was on pole position. But the reigning world champion soon lost control into turn three and entered an incorrect setting on the steering wheel.

The duo collided when Hamilton tried to slide up the inside at turn four.

Reflecting on the incident, Rosberg said he had decided not to give any space to Hamilton, but was very surprised to see his teammate go for the gap anyway.

Rosberg, who lost his first race of the season, said he is feeling extremely gutted not only for himself but also for his colleagues, saying that they deserved to win the race.

The German, however, refused to directly blame Hamilton for the clash, but added that he would go with the verdict of the stewards.

Despite the exit, Rosberg currently holds a 43-point lead over Hamilton in the championship after winning four consecutive races of the season.

Red Bull's Max Verstappen later went on to win the race to become the youngest Formula One winner.
