Somdev drops to 124, Amritraj gains 19 places

Despite putting up one of his best performances of the season, Somdev Devverman dropped eight places to 124th in the ATP rankings issued on Monday.

Somdev reached the final of the Charlottesville Challenger event where he lost to Kevin Kim on Sunday.

Among other Indians Prakash Amritraj jumped 19 places to 204 and in the doubles, Leander Paes (8) and Mahesh Bhupathi (7) had their rankings unchanged.

In the WTA list, Sania Mirza stayed in the 58th spot in the singles but gained a place to be 37th in doubles.

Bopanna qualifies for Germany Challenger event

Rohan Bopanna came from behind to topple second seed Louk Sorensen and book a berth in the singles event of the ATP Challenger tournament in Aachen, Germany.

The sixth seed Indian beat his Irish opponent 4-6, 7-6(2), 6-3 in the third and final qualifying round to enter the main draw of the euro 42450 hard court event.

Bopanna will take on local lad Simon Stadler in his first round match.

Bopanna and his Pakistani partner Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi are seeded second in the doubles event and will start their campaign against Croat wild card pair of Nikola Mektic and Ivan Zovko.
