20 years on: F1 drivers, fans remember sensational Senna

On the 20th death anniversary of Brazilian Formula One legend Ayrton Senna, fans and the sporting community paid tribute to the man who was arguably one of the best drivers in F1 history.

Ferrari Formula One drivers Fernando Alonso of Spain (right) and Kimi Raikkonen of Finland arrive for a memorial at the Imola race track in northern Italy on Thursday.

A tribute event was held at the Imola race track in memory of Formula 1 drivers Ayrton Senna and Roland Ratzenberger to mark the 20th anniversary of their deaths

Footballers of Brazil’s Corinthians club stand over replicas of the helmet worn by late Formula One driver Ayrton Senna before their Copa do Brasil match against rival club Nacional AM at the Arena Amazonas stadium in Manaus, Brazil on Wecnesday.

Flowers are placed at the tomb of Brazil's Formula One driver Ayrton Senna, on the 20th anniversary of his death, at Morumbi cemetery in Sao Paulo on Thursday.

Senna had just moved to Williams and was in only his third race for that team when he crashed and died at the San Marino Grand Prix on May 1, 1994.
