Olympian Mansher Singh and Rajpal Singh Kochhar won the individual Trap and Skeet titles respectively in the 46th National shooting championships in Delhi on Monday.
In the Trap team event, Indian Airlines won the gold. Uttar Pradesh and Delhi finished second and third respectively.
Chhattisgarh clinched the Skeet team gold while Delhi were runners-up and Karnataka third.
In the trap event, the Delhi-based Mansher won the gold with a total of 139 out of 150 after leading the field on Sunday with a score of 72 out of 75. This morning he shot a score of 46 out of 50 to take his total to 118 out of 125 for the final.
In the final round of 25, Mansher shot 21 to aggregate 139, which was good enough for him to emerge National Trap champion once again.
The silver was bagged by Manavjit Singh, who came up with a much better display today. Yesterday he had a score of 66/75, but this morning shot 47 out of 50 to take his total to 113/125 and make it to the final round of 25, in which he shot brilliantly, hitting 24 to take his total to 137/150. In the process he beat favourite Anwar Sultan, who had won medals at Commonwealth and Busan Asian Games.
Sultan, who was second yesterday with a score of 69/75, shot 46 out of 50 to aggregate 115/125. In the final round, he shot 20/25 and had to be content with a bronze, after finishing with a total of 135/150.
The trio of Birandeep Sodhi, S.M.Faizal and Zorawar Singh, with a combined total of 324/375, won the team title for Indian Airlines. Uttar Pradesh, with a score of 315, won the silver while Delhi, with a score of 314, took the bronze.
In the Skeet event, Chhattisgarh's Rajpal Singh Kochhar won the title for the first with a career best score of 141/150.
Rajpal, who had led the field with a score of 70/75 on Sunday, missed only four targets out of the 75 he shot today. This morning he first shot 48 out of 50 for a total of 118/125 and then in the final round shot 23 out of 25 to claim the first place.
Haryana's Rao Inderjit Singh, who is also state MLA, was runner-up after a sudden-death shoot-out.
Rajpal's state mate Amardeep Singh Rai finished third.
Both Rao Inderjit Singh and Amardeep Rai had identical scores of 69/75 each yesterday. This morning Amardeep Rai shot 47/50 to total 116/125 while Inderjit had a score of 46/50 for an aggregate of 115/125.
In the final round, Amardeep shot 23/25 while Inderjit had a score of 22/25 which led to a deadlock as both the shooters had identical scores of 138/150.
To end the stalemate, the sudden-death shoot-out was applied, and Rao Inderjit hit the target first to take the second place.
Chhatisgarh, with a total of 348 out of 375, won the team title. Delhi, with 326, and Karnataka, with 318, were silver and bronze medallists.
