India's Shiv Kapur tied for the third place at the rain-shortened Zurich Open Pro-am.

The two-day event played at the picturesque Schonenberg Golf Club on August 15 and 16 was hit by heavy rains and was reduced from 36 to 18 holes.

"Due to wet conditions, the course played long and tough," Kapur, the only Indian invited for the event, said.

"It was a wonderful event, though it was cut due to rain. Playing with some of the pros from the European Tour was a great experience," the 2002 Asian Games gold medallist said.

Kapur started from the 10th hole and went out in one-over 37, but found his touch on the turn slotting four birdies along with a bogey to fire a three-under 33.

He missed a couple of short birdie putts on the sixth and eighth holes.

His round of two-under 70 saw him finish one shy of leaders, Paul Eales of England and Ian Hutchings of South Africa.

Eales won the play-off against Hutchings after rain rendered further play impossible, while Kapur tied for third with Malcolm Mckenzie and Carlos Rodiles taking home approximately USD 8,500.

Among the top professionals playing at the event were Eduardo Romero of Argentina, former European Ryder Cup player Philip Walton, Gareth Davies and Stuart Little.

A total of 32 professionals played with amateurs, including promising juniors in the tournament.

Kapur will now play on the Asian Tour beginning with the Volkswagen Masters in China from September 1.
