Andy Murray at the NBA half court challenge

A video grab of Andy Murray at the NBA half court challenge

British tennis star Andy Murray took the NBA half-court challenge on Tuesday and proved why the tennis court is what he will always master.

The half court challenge allows a player five attempts to make a basket from a distance of 47ft.

But the French Open semi-finalist was inaccurate in all attempts.

In a video posted on his Facebook page, Murray is seen struggling to put ball into the basket, failing to convert all the opportunities. He did get close on couple of occasions – both times the ball went and bobbed back out, forcing Murray to groan in agony.

Murray, who owns a home in Miami, Florida, and grew up there while training to become a top tennis player, admitted to being a Miami Heats’ fan.

"I try to go and watch the Heat as much as possible," Murray said.

"I have an apartment that's about three to five minutes' drive from there -- me and a couple of my friends got some season tickets.

"We actually got very lucky, we bought the season tickets the day before LeBron James signed, which was perfect timing, so we've been fans for the last few years."

Murray has now forwarded the challenge to women’s World No 1 tennis star Serena Williams.

Gareth Bale at the half-court challenge

Real Madrid's forward Gareth Bale currenty leads the NBA half-court challenge

Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale also took up the challenge last month and did fairly well.

The Welshman converted three of the five attempts and currently heads the leaderboard.

Among others who have taken the challenge are Chelsea’s Demba Ba, Petr Cech, David Luiz, Eden Hazard and Andre Schurrle.

Stoke City’s Geoff Cameron has also taken the challenge as have players from Tottenham Hotspurs.

This challenge seems to be a fun and it will nice to see who can ace the basket and beat Gareth Bale to the top.
