Caroline Wozniacki has revealed what really happened during her unexpected breakup with fiancé, golfer Rory McIlroy.

During her recent appearance on In Depth With Graham Bensinger, the 25-year-old tennis star said that it was days after their wedding invitations had been sent out, when McIlroy, also 25, called her and dumped her saying that it was “his problem,” News.com.au reported.

She continued saying that the golf ace said that the sending of wedding invites had made realise that he wasn’t ready for marriage.

Wozniacki added that she was shocked as he had just slammed the decision in her face with no further calls, and said that it was very hard since the break-up was very public and there was no room for reconciliation.

However, the Danish tennis star said that her friend Serena Williams, to whom she recently lost the final of US Open, helped her get through the tough phase when they had both vacationed in Miami, after which she returned “refreshed, with a new self.”

Wozniacki, who’s been focusing on Wimbledon ever since, said that she has definitely moved on and people too should “take life as it goes.”
