AAI supremo Mukherjee to resign?

August 06, 2012 18:24 IST

The Archery Association of India (AAI) secretary general Paresh Nath Mukherjee is planning to resign from his position taking moral responsibility of disastrous performance of archers at the London Olympics.

"I thought it is my moral duty to put in papers immediately so that Indian archery could move forward under new leadership," said Mukherjee, who has been involved with Indian archery for more than two decades.

The heartbroken archery contingent returned to Kolkata, their training base at SAI.

A lot was expected from Deepika Kumari, who was ranked no 1 in the world although it was more to do with top archers across the world not participating in many of those World Cup stages.

The Indian contingent cited ill-health of their archers due to change in weather and the 'cross-winds' blowing across Lord's cricket ground as the two main reasons for team's dismal show in London.
