Mahesh Bhupathi and Paola Suarez of Argentina conceded a walkover to South Africa's Liezel Huber and Pavel Vizner of the Czech Republic in their second round mixed doubles match at the US Open on Sunday.
In the first round, the top seeded pair had survived a scare before beating Petra Mandula of Hungary and Graydon Oliver of the United States 6-7 (7-9), 6-4, 7-6 (10-8).
It was also also a bad for India's juniors at the Open as three of them went out in the first round of the singles competition.
Somdev Dev Varman went down 7-6(2), 6-7(5), 5-7 to 13th seed Frederico Gil of Portugal and Karan Rastogi lost to Adam Fass of the United States 3-6, 6-4, 0-6 in the first round of the boys' singles, while in the girls' singles, Sanaa Bhambri retired at 2-6, 0-3 against Volha Havartsova of Belarus in her first round match.
Meanwhile, Tara Iyer qualified for the main draw in the girls' section. The Indian lass defeated Logan Hansen of the United States 6-3, 6-1 in the first round and Lauren Albanese, also of the US, 6-1, 1-6, 6-3 in the second round.
Iyer now will face Bethanie Mattek of the United States in the first round while Sania Mirza will take on Lara Giltinan of Australia in the main draw.
Another Indian, Divij Sharan meets 16th seed Hyun-Joon Suk of Korea in the boys' singles. Divij, 17, is from New Delhi and ranked 105 on the ITF junior list.
In the boys' qualifying, Arun P Rajagopalan lost to fourth seed Horacio Zeballos of Argentina 4-6, 4-6 in the first round.
In the boys' doubles, Somdev Dev Varman and Karan Rastogi are third seeds and will face Juan Pablo Amado of Argentina and Fabio Fognini of Italy, while Arun Prakash Rajagopalan and Divij Sharan will face American pair of Robert Cameron and Vahid Mirzadeh in the first round.
Divij and G D Jones of New Zealand had earlier won the Canadian Open ITF grade-1 doubles title last week.
In the girls' doubles, Sania Mirza is paring with Anna Tchakvetadze of Russia and will face Madalina Gojnea of Romania and Vojislava Lukic of Yougoslavia, while Sanaa Bhambri and Sanja Ancic of Crotia will face the American pair of Lindsay Burdette and Michelle Mitchell.
Sania and Tchakvetadze went down in the final of the Canadian Open grade-1 doubles final of Satarday against Ana Ivanovic of Yougoslvia and Alla Kudryavtseva of Russia 1-6, 6-2, 3-6.
