Randhawa tied second in SAIL Open

New Zealander Mark Brown held on to his overnight lead to emerge comfortable winner by four strokes, ahead of a bunch of four golfers, including India's Jyoti Randhawa, in the SAIL Open in Noida on Saturday.

Brown fired a steady three-under-par 69 by sinking four birdies against one bogey on the final day to win his maiden title with an aggregate of 14-under 274 at Jaypee Greens.

The 33-year-old champion pocketed the top prize of $ 63,400 and gained full exemption till the end of the 2010 season on the Asian Tour.

"It was so emotional. I was remembering my father, who passed away four years ago. I wish he were here to see me win," said Brown after the win.

"I was nervous when I started. I feel everybody was chasing me. And then right through the last few holes, I had just a one shot lead.

"The course at Delhi Golf Club (at Indian Masters) is so different from here. Here I drove well, and in DGC I didn't use the driver even once in 72 holes," added the Kiwi.

Tied for second place were India's Jyoti Randhawa, who shot a 71, big-hitting Australian Scott Hend, who finished even-par, and Korea's Noh Seung-yul, who ended his campaign with a 69 for a 278 total.

Malaysia's Danny Chia and local talent Gaganjeet Bhullar fired matching 72s and ended at tied fifth with 9-under 279. 

Brown was one under after nine holes on the final day and was calm on the way home firing a birdie on the 12th hole and ended with a final 10 foot birdie putt on the 18th hole.

"I just wanted to get close (on the final hole) and tap in for par, but it just went in," said Brown.
