Jeev tied 12th in Malaysia

Jeev Milkha Singh continued with his imperious performance while Jyoti Randhawa, Shiv Kapur and Rahil Gangjee fell by the wayside, missing the cut after the second round of the Maybank Malaysian Open golf event on Saturday.

Jeev was tied 12th after carding a one-under par 71, a creditable position considering the inclement weather that knocked out many a top names.

Randhawa, Kapur and Gangjee were among the big league who surprisingly missed the cut, which was set at 146 after play was suspended early on Friday because of a lightning storm.

Three other Indians who made the cut are Amandeep Johl (73-71), S S P Chowrasia (67-77) and Gaurav Ghei (72-72) --  all in tied 32nd.

Gangjee had a disastrous second round of eight-over and missed cut at 99th place, while Kapur who shot a 76 on opening day and needed a good under-par score managed only a 75 and crashed out at seven-over.

Randhawa (77-75) went eight-over and also missed weekend action.

18-year-old Thai Chinarat Phadungsil was leading at seven-under 137 and he was two ahead of a group of five players at five-under 139.

Chinarat is two shots clear of England's Simon Dyson and Marcus Higley, Finland's Mikko Ilonen, Argentine Rafael Enchenique and American Edward Loar.

The third round teed off at later in the afternoon and is expected to end on Saturday.
