A bogey on the final hole notwithstanding, Daniel Chopra comfortably made the halfway cut at the FBR Open after a second round of even par 71.

Chopra stood at five-under 137 following his 66 on the first day and was lying 28th. There were 18 players still to finish the second round, which was suspended due to darkness.

Local man Jeff Quniey shot an 8-under 63 in the second round to take a three-shot lead. The Arizona golfer, who played five years on the Nationwide Tour before making it to the PGA, was at 13-under 129 through 36 holes.

Quinney had nine birdies and one bogey on the 7,216-yard layout, where start of play was delayed due to frost.

Chopra started on the first and had five straight pars before a bogey on the sixth. However, a birdie on the eighth ensured that Chopra turned in even par.

On the way back, Chopra bogeyed the 11th but birdied the 15th and 17th, before dropping a shot on the par-4 18th.

Despite finding only half the fairways, he found 61 per cent greens in regulation and needed 29 putts for the round.

Billy Mayfair and Bart Bryant were three shots off the lead at 10-under 132 after shooting 66 each in the second round.

Bubba Watson, John Rollins and Robert Garrigus were four back at 9 under.

Among the 18 players on the course when play was suspended was Charles Howell III, who was 9 under with two holes to play.

Two-time FBR champion Phil Mickelson is in danger of missing the cut despite a second round 69 for a 1-under 141 total.
