Arjun Singh fired a four-under 68 to sit pretty at the tied-fourth position even as play was suspended mid-way through the opening round of the $900,000 Caltex Masters being played at the Laguna National G & CC in Singapore.

Arjun was one among those who finished their stipulated 18 holes.

The lead is shared by Australian Peter Fowler and Frenchman Thomas Levet at five-under 67.

Meanwhile, New Zealander Eddie Lee's card depicted an eight-under in 17 completed holes.

Among the other Indians in the fray, Jyoti Randhawa was tied for 20th place after tallying two-under in 15 completed holes.

Jeev Milkha Singh, the only other Indian to complete his stipulated round, shot a three-over 75 to tie for 122nd position.

Amandeep Johl was tied-109th at two-over and Harmeet Kahlon tied 122nd at three-over each in nine holes.

Arjun Singh might have been inspired by his namesake, Atwal, who won the Caltex Masters in 2002.

With the latter currently doing duty on the US PGA Tour the other Arjun stole the limelight.

His round was peppered with six birdies, these coming on the second, fourth, fifth, 11th, 17th and 18th.

Indeed he erred only twice paying the prize with bogeys on the ninth and 14th.

Randhawa dropped a shot early in his round on the second.  Thereafter he regained his composure to birdie the ninth, 11th and 13th and would have probably carried on with the good work but for the unfortunate suspension of play when he was on the 16th tee box.

Jeev's journey was less enjoyable.  The Chandigarh pro had two straight bogeys on the third and fourth but made up with birdies on the fifth and sixth.  If another bogey on the tenth set him back a bit, a double bogey on the 17th drove the nail into his coffin.
