Webber wants to stay at Red Bull

June 10, 2011 12:00 IST

Australian Mark Webber has told Formula One world champions Red Bull that he wants to stay with them next season, team principal Christian Horner said on Thursday.

The 34-year-old's contract expires at the end of the year and he has said he is most likely to stay with the team or retire rather than drive for anyone else.

"Mark has made it clear that he wants to drive next year, and conversations with Mark tend to be quite straightforward," Horner told reporters at the Canadian Grand Prix.

He said the driver and team would sit down and discuss next year later in the summer.

"As far as the future is concerned we agree to take things one step at a time and at the appropriate time we will sit down and talk about the future," he added.

Webber's German team mate and reigning champion Sebastian Vettel has won five of the first six races this season.
