Football: Brazil win, Italy upset

August 16, 2008 18:41 IST

Brazil advanced to the semi-finals of the football competition with a 2-0 win over Camerron after extra time.

The five-time world champions, who are yet to win an Olympic gold, were aided by goals from Rafael Sobis and Marcelo.

The two teams played out a goalless draw in normal time.

Brazil will play the winner of the match between Argentina and the Netherlands in the semi-finals.

In another match, Belgium upset Italy 3-2 to advance to the last four.

Giuseppe Rossi's 18th minute penalty goal helped Italy take an early lead.

However, Belgium's Moussa Dembele grabbed an equalizer six minutes later.

Kevin Mirallas' injury-time goal helped Belgium take a lead into the first half.

Italy received another penalty kick in the second half, equalizing in the 74th minute.

Moussa Dembele scored a long-range goal five minutes later and that proved to be the winning goal.
