Man U's Evra claims of racist abuse by Suarez

October 16, 2011 15:00 IST

Manchester United defender Patrice Evra has accused Liverpool striker Luis Suarez of racist abuse in Saturday's 1-1 Premier League clash between the two teams and has demanded action be taken against the Uruguayan.

Evra alleged that Suarez had been trying "to try to wind me up" and that "there are cameras, you can see him say a certain word to me at least 10 times. There is no place for that in 2011."

In the 59th minute Suarez had kicked Evra on the knee near the Manchester United goal-line.

Evra and Suarez then had to be spoken to by match referee Andre Marriner after tussling ahead of a Liverpool corner, with Evra obviously unhappy.

Patrice EvraAccording to the Telegraph, Marriner has met Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish to discuss the allegation.

If Marriner includes it in his report then the Football Association (FA) will be obliged to open an investigation when they receive it on Monday.

If there is substance to the allegation then the FA could impose a suspension.

A Liverpool spokesman, however, said that Suarez "categorically denied" making any racist comment.
