Kolkata to host India's Davis Cup tie

February 13, 2003 12:47 IST

Kolkata will be the venue of the Asia-Oceania Group I second round Davis Cup match between India and New Zealand.

The tie, to be played from April 4 to 6, will be held at the lush green grass courts of the Calcutta South Club, Bengal Tennis Association treasurer Hiranmoy Chatterjee informed on Wednesday.

The winner of the match will qualify for the play-off to the World Group.

Last week, India had beaten Japan 4-1 in the Asia-Oceania Group I first round tie in New Delhi, while New Zealand trounced Pakistan 5-0 at Hamilton.

The date of draw and logistics would be decided later, Chatterjee said.
