Indian badminton's golden girl P V Sindhu continued her golden run in 2016 as she triumphed at the China Open to win her maiden Super Series title, on Sunday.
Sindhu registered a hardfought 21-11, 17-21, 21-11 victory against China's Sun Yu in the summit clash.
The 21-year-old Hyderabadi is the second Indian after Saina Nehwal (in 2014) to win the China Open title.
Earlier this year, she became the first Indian woman to win an Olympic silver medal at the Rio Olympic Games in August.
Sindhu had reached her maiden Super Series final at the Denmark Open last year but the title eluded her then as she lost in straight games to 2012 Olympic champion China's Li Xuerei.
Sindhu was off to a smashing start, winning the first game 21-11 before local girl made most of the vocal home support to level the match after winning the second game 21-71. But there was no stopping the Indian in the decider as she got off to a good start and never let go off the momentum to win the game 21-11 and register her first Super Series title.
Congratulate Sindhu on her maiden Super Series triumph
