Chelsea's Costa hospitalised following rib injury

Jose Mourinho has confirmed Diego Costa was taken to hospital with a rib injury suffered during Chelsea's Capital One League Cup match at Stoke City on Tuesday.

Costa was injured after a challenge by Stoke midfielder Charlie Adam and was forced off the field after 32 minutes.

Asked in his post-match press conference what the situation was with Costa, Mourinho replied: "He is in the hospital - I don't know."

Holders Chelsea were knocked out of the League Cup by Stoke in penalties.
