Jyotsna in Asian boxing final

Last edition's gold medallist Jyotsna won her semi-final bout to join eight other compatriots in the title round of different weight categories in the Asian Women's Boxing Championships in Taiwan.

Jyotsna defeated her Chinese Taipei rival by a 21-14 verdict to move into the final of the 86 kg class.

She won a gold in 2003 while competing in the 80-kg class.

Meanwhile, Kanakdurga lost to her North Korean opponent 9-23 and Aswathi Prabha went down to another North Korean on points 12-25.

India sent a 13-member team to the competition. N Usha and Meena Kumari bowed out of the competition on the opening day itself.

The finalists include M C Marykom (46 kg), L Sarita Devi (54 kg), Pranamika Boro (60 kg), Jenny R L (63 kg), Aruna Mishra (66 Kg.), Aswathi Mol (70 kg), Karamjit Kaur (75 kg), Lekha KC (80 kg) and Jyotsna (86 kg).
