Vijay Kumar wins National Supercross

Three-time champion C Vijay Kumar of TVS Racing emerged overall champion in the inaugural round of the MRF National Supercross 2005 at the Campal Parade grounds in Panaji, Goa, on Sunday.

Vijay Kumar stole the limelight, winning the Expert Foreign motorcycle class for 250 to 450 cc. Later, he was third in the Expert Indian motorcycle class group 'D' on his 'Shaolin' bike.

TVS and Yahama dominated the show in the eight races held in different categories, which saw 90 riders participating in the event.

In the local class for Indian motorcycles, in Group 'B' for 110 to 250 cc, Goa's Gordon Furtado was first on his RX 135 while Intiaz Kadar and Fidel Furtado were second and third respectively on their RX 135 bikes.

The other five rounds will be held at Pune, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Vadodara and Chandigarh.

Results: Foreign motor cycle class in group 'A' (250 to 450 cc): 1. C Vijay Kumar (TVS), 2. Yogesh Barguje (Yamaha, Bangalore), 3. Santosh C S (TVS Bangalore).

Indian motorcycle class group 'D': 1. Syed Eathasham (Yahama, Bangalore), 2. Yogesh Barguje (Yahama, Bangalore), 3. C Vijaykumar (TVS Bangalore).
