BAI panel recommends action against Vijai Sinha

August 14, 2010 16:13 IST

The panel, investigating BAI secretary general Vijai Sinha's alleged financial irregularities has recommended disciplinary actions against him, sources said.

Badminton Association of India (BAI) had its executive body meeting in Hyderabad where the findings of the five-member panel came up for discussion and was supported by 33 state units.

"The panel looking at the allegations of financial irregularities of Mr Vijai Sinha submitted its report. Out of 40, around 33 members were present and they have supported Mr V K Verma," a source in the BAI said.

"With the consent of the Jodhpur court any further action would be taken in this case," he added.

The infighting in the BAI reached Rajasthan High Court last month when a petition alleged that Verma was running the sports body autocratically.

The Court had restrained Verma from taking any decision as head of the sports body without its permission till the next hearing on August 17.

The court has also asked both Verma and Sinha not to perform any duties, which deals with the composition of the BAI without seeking permission from it and also asked them to stay away from taking any coercive action against any members.
