Chetan Anand out of Luxembourg Open

Chetan Anand bowed out of the Bitburger Luxembourg Open Badminton Championship at the quarter-final stage after losing to Susilo Ronald of Singapore in straight games on Friday.

Anand, the highest ranked Indian in the world, lost 16-21, 19-21.

P Kashyap is the only Indian left in the draw. He will meet Polish Open winner Przemyslaw Wacha of Poland in the quarter-finals.

He had beaten Malaysia's Lee Tseun Seng 21-18, 22-20 to book a place in the last eight.

Anand, who lost in the final of the Denmark Open last week, had got the better of Germany's Spitko Roman 21-13, 21-15 in the previous round.

The other Indians in the men's competition, namely Ajay Jayaram, Rohan Castelino, Nikhil Kanetkar and Sagar Chopda bowed out earlier.

In the women's section, Trupti Murgunde lost to top seed Xu Huwaein of Germany in the first round.
