Kim Collins is fastest man

Commonwealth athletes raced past the rest of the world in the men's 100 metres final at the Stade de France in Paris on Monday.

Twenty-seven-year-old Commonwealth Games champion Kim Collins of St Kitts and Nevis won the event in a rather slow 10.07 seconds, way below American Tim Montgomery's world record of 9.78 seconds.

Montgomery himself, who had just recovered from an allergic reaction, finished a disappointing fifth in 10.11 seconds.

Darrel Brown of Trinidad and Tobago won the silver in 10.08s, just edging out Darren Campbell of Great Britain, who also set a time of 10.08s, in the photofinish.

Dwain Chambers, the second British athlete in the final, also finished in 10.08s, but was adjudged to be fourth in the photofinish.
